Context:
Arunachal Pradesh Governor K. T. Parnaik implemented a central directive renaming his official residence as ‘Lok Bhavan’. The decision to this effect was taken in pursuance of a communication from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The renaming symbolises a shift towards people-centric governance, emphasising that constitutional authorities function in the service of the public.
About Lok Bhavan:

- The Lok Bhavan, Itanagar, is the official residence of His Excellency the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh.
- It is located on a hillock close to a historical monument known as ‘Ita-Fort’ (Eastern Gate).
- The foundation of this Bhavan was laid by Late Shri K.A.A. Raja the then Lt. Governor of the Union Territory of Arunachal Pradesh on 17th April, 1977.
- Right from Shri Bhisma Narain Singh, the first Governor of Arunachal Pradesh to present, the Bhavan has been the official residence of seventeen governors.
