EPFO APFC Exam Syllabus 2026

The official EPFO APFC Exam syllabus contains nine broad areas. UPSC does not prescribe separate marks for each subject in the notification. EPFO APFC Exam Pattern 2026

Understanding the exam pattern is equally important before starting the EPFO APFC Exam syllabus. A clear study strategy, consistent practice, and the right resources can help aspirants crack the APSC exam online while balancing preparation for other competitive examinations.

UPSC has prescribed a two-hour Recruitment Test consisting of objective multiple-choice questions. All questions carry equal marks, and questions will be given in both English and Hindi. However, UPSC deducts one-third of the marks assigned to a question for every incorrect answer. Candidates receive no penalty when they leave a question unanswered.

The Recruitment Test carries 300 marks, while the Interview carries 100 marks. Therefore:

Recruitment Test – 300 marks → 75% weightage
Interview – 100 marks → 25% weightage

EPFO APFC Exam Syllabus for General English:

  • UPSC states that General English will test a candidate’s understanding of the language and the workman-like use of words
  • Candidates should therefore prepare grammar, subject-verb agreement, tenses, articles, prepositions, active-passive voice, vocabulary, synonyms and antonyms, sentence improvement, error detection and reading comprehension.

Indian Culture, Heritage and Freedom Movement in APFC Syllabus:

  • This part of the EPFO APFC Exam syllabus 2026 connects strongly with general studies preparation. Candidates should understand important aspects of Indian art, architecture, literature and cultural heritage. In addition, they should revise the freedom struggle, major national movements, important personalities and India’s transition from colonial rule to independence.
  • Instead of memorising every historical event, candidates should focus on major developments and themes relevant to objective questions.

Economy, Governance and Constitution of India

  • UPSC specifically includes Developmental Issues and Present Trends in Indian Economy along with Governance and Constitution of India.
  • For Economy, candidates should prepare for growth and development, employment, poverty, inflation, public finance, labour-market developments and major economic policies.
  • Meanwhile, Constitution and governance preparation should cover Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles, Parliament, President, Prime Minister, Supreme Court, federalism, constitutional bodies and public administration. Current economic and governance developments should accompany static preparation.

Labour Codes, Industrial Relations and Social Security:

  • This section deserves special attention because it directly connects with the work of EPFO. The official EPFO APFC Exam syllabus includes Industrial Relations, Labour Codes and Social Security in India.
  • Candidates should study concepts such as trade unions, collective bargaining, industrial disputes, wages, labour welfare, occupational safety and grievance resolution. In addition, they should understand the four major labour codes:
    • Code on Wages, 2019
    • Industrial Relations Code, 2020
    • Code on Social Security, 2020
    • Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020

EPFO-related preparation should also cover provident fund, pension and insurance-related social-security concepts. Candidates looking for flexible and structured guidance can consider online coaching in Assam  to strengthen their preparation for competitive examinations.

Accountancy, Auditing and Insurance in EPFO APFC Exam Syllabus

  • UPSC also tests Principles of Accountancy, Auditing and Insurance. Candidates do not need to approach this section like a professional accountancy examination. Instead, they should build conceptual clarity.
  • Important preparation areas include accounting principles, journal and ledger, trial balance, final accounts, balance sheets, cash flow, auditing objectives, internal controls and basic insurance principles.
  • Candidates from non-commerce backgrounds should begin this section early because unfamiliar terminology can otherwise consume significant preparation time.

Mathematics, Statistics, Mental Ability, Science and Computers:

  • The EPFO APFC Exam syllabus 2026 also tests basic quantitative and analytical ability. For Mathematics and Statistics, candidates should revise percentages, ratios, averages, profit and loss, time and work, probability, mean, median, mode and data interpretation. Mental Ability generally requires reasoning topics such as series, analogy, coding-decoding, directions and logical relationships.
  • Similarly, General Science requires fundamental understanding of Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Computer preparation should cover computer fundamentals, hardware and software, operating systems, internet, networks, cybersecurity basics and common office applications.

Current Affairs for EPFO APFC Exam 2026

  • UPSC explicitly includes Current Events of National and International Importance in the EPFO APFC Exam syllabus.
  • Candidates should particularly follow developments related to labour reforms, social security, employment, economy, government schemes, judiciary, governance and international organisations. Moreover, they should connect current affairs with static concepts. For example, a Supreme Court judgment involving labour law can simultaneously test current affairs and industrial relations.

How to Prepare the EPFO APFC Exam Syllabus Effectively?

Candidates should divide preparation into three layers.

  • First, complete high-value static areas such as labour laws, social security, Constitution, economy and accountancy.
  • Next, revise English, mathematics, reasoning, computers and science regularly.
  • Finally, integrate current affairs with each subject instead of studying them as a completely separate block.
  • Since UPSC applies one-third negative marking, accuracy matters as much as coverage. Therefore, candidates should practise objective questions and previous APFC papers after completing each major syllabus area.

Conclusion

The EPFO APFC Exam syllabus 2026 combines general studies with specialised subjects such as labour codes, industrial relations, social security, accountancy, auditing and insurance. UPSC will conduct the 300-mark Recruitment Test on 20 December 2026, followed by a 100-mark Interview.

Therefore, candidates should follow the official EPFO APFC Exam syllabus, build strong conceptual foundations and use topic-wise practice to prepare systematically for the Recruitment Test.
